Dear Resident,
Many thanks for your support in the recent election. As indicated in the canvas your main concerns included:
- a.. Very poor conditions of the approach roads and traffic calming.
- b.. Mayoral election should be based on your vote at election time.
- c.. Pots/planters on Main street were too big and causing an obstruction
- d.. Jobs, with rising unemployment we need positive actions.
- e.. Parking on Main Street/ Town centre should be FREE for 15 mins.
- f.. An inner relief road would greatly relieve traffic congestion.
- g.. The income assessment for social housing is too severe.
- h.. Property management by the Town Council needs serious improvement.
- i.. Savings need to be made at council level and remove loss making operations.
- j.. More Garda presence on Friday and Saturday nights in town centre.
- k.. Reduction in rates for start up business.
- l.. Further works to the Mound area, Bull Ring and Plots.
- m.. Ability to close archway areas at night to reduce anti social behaviour.
- n.. Better control of parking for farmers attending the mart to support residents.
- o.. Reactivate the Garda Liaison with the estates
- p.. Carrowclough Phase 1 snag list needs to be implemented.
- q.. Green areas in estates need improvement and maintenance
- r.. Improve lighting in Canon Hayes Park and other areas
What do we need to lobby for?
- a.. Extension of the Cashel/Cahir gas pipeline.
- b.. Tourism focal attraction in the Town.
- c.. Development of a Tourism Triangle with Cashel, Cahir and Tipperary.
- d.. Incubation units for start up industrial units.
